The
biggest drawcard in Australia is Uluru
National Park, home of Ayers Rock
and the Olgas (Northern Territory). They are
sacred symbols of the aboriginal Dreamtime legend. A. Rock is the biggest single piece of
exposed rock on the earth's surface , with a circumference of 9.5 km and a height of 348
m. Both the Rock and the Ayers undergo wonderful colour changes
through reds, browns, and purpuls during the day, as the direction of the light varies.
Lying 32 km west of Ayers Rock, the Olgas'
extraordinary collection, were formed 500 million years ago. Each dome is separated by
ravines supporting a surprising amount of plant life and you can have very nice walks. |
