Brisbane,Queensland capital, 1 421 700
inhabitants, is the most tropical Australian metropolis. "Beautiful one day, glorious
the next" is the traditional description of the Southern coastline of Queensland.
Founded in 1824 in order to accomodate the "toughest
convicts", it quickly turned, between 1960 and 1980, into a second Miami, with a collection of
sky-scrapers with reflecting glasses and freeways, around the English colonial
architecture.
Thanks to the tourist industry and very rich agricultural background
it is an opulent city.
North of Brisbane lies the "Sunshine Coast", and South of it is the "Gold Coast": the Australian
trilogy (Sun, Sand and Surf). |
